This is a special Christmas event highlighting the value of Western Parnitha as a cultural heritage site and a green lung for the post-industrial, multicultural city of Aspropyrgos.
It emphasizes the massive wildfire that burned thousands of acres of forest and explores ways in which humans must rethink their relationship with nature.
The event is organized by Aimilia Bouriti and the artistic platform Syn+Ergasia, in collaboration with the E1 Class of the 2nd Primary School of Aspropyrgos, and is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture. It is supported by the Municipality of Aspropyrgos.
The event includes talks, discussions, screenings, songs, and an art installation focusing on the significance of Western Parnitha. There is also a reference to the ancient trail along the Aspropyrgos – Chasia axis.
The results of the experiential workshop conducted by Emilia Bouriti at the foothills of Western Parnitha, specifically at the “Elies Kourasi” site in Aspropyrgos, are also presented. The workshop involved students from the E1 class of the 2nd Primary School, aiming to raise their awareness about the burnt mountain and to highlight the multicultural nature of the class. The mountain becomes a universal symbol that unites students from different nationalities, connects places and cultural identities, creating a new space of shared experiences.
The participating educators were: Areti Mandraki, Alexandros Raptis, Stavros Loukas, and Vasiliki Fili.
The event features participation from scientists, artists, walkers, and educators on topics of nature, environment, and society, as well as the students of the E1 class of the 2nd Primary School.
