Launch of the Collab 4 HySust CCI Project in the Creative Europe (CREA) Programme

Launch of a New Creative Europe Project – Collaborative Innovation for Hybrid and Sustainability Uptake in Cultural and Creative Industries (Collab 4 HySust CCI) – (Cultural and creative entities innovate collaboratively using hybrid practices, aiming for sustainability)

European Cultural and Creative Sectors Collaborate to Create Innovations for Sustainable Development.

A new project titled Collab 4 HySust is being implemented by five cultural organizations across Europe. The project aims to enhance the capacity of European cultural and creative sectors to innovate and foster sustainable, unrestricted development within three years.

Cultural and creative entities play a crucial role in driving innovation for sustainable change, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced European cultural organizations to adapt and strengthen their relationships with audiences, including through online platforms.

However, many projects supporting cultural and creative entities face sustainability challenges due to a lack of internal capacity or support for horizontal policy priorities, particularly in countries where cultural business incubators are scarce.

The goal of the Collab 4 HySust project is to facilitate knowledge transfer between different regions and organizations in the EU with particular needs, aiming to transform CCI (Cultural and Creative Industries) organizations and their impact on the communities they serve.

The project involves 15 cultural and artistic organizations from five European countries, focusing on two key areas of need: broad audiences and hybrid approaches, and sustainability in collaborative processes. These initiatives will receive guidance, expert know-how, and support to adopt and create innovative practices based on business incubators.

Collab 4 HySust aims to contribute to the European Green Deal by encouraging cultural entities to adopt environmentally friendly practices and engage with their audiences to build community resilience. The project seeks to highlight a range of interconnected social and environmental changes that promote and enable active participation in culture and the creative sectors.

The next step for the project is to conduct research and mapping to identify challenges faced by CCIs across Europe post-pandemic. This activity will be accompanied by the creation of a knowledge-sharing platform through organizing hybrid conferences dedicated to CCI entities and their communities.

The project is implemented by Materahub (IT), Intercultura Consult (BG), Syn+Ergasia (EL), Det Flyvende Teater (DK), and Nova Iskra Creative Hub (RS).
